Day 55

All right, I’ll be upfront with you. I’m on the fence about my outfit today, if only because it looks like the kind of thing I would have sketched in grade school that I would wear “as an adult*”:

Tulle dress, VS t, H&M tights, anthro headband, Hunter boots

This dress was one of my $5 Tulle final-sale finds, and I love love love love love it; but dressing it for winter-to-spring was trickier than I thought.

It’sĀ a heavy canvas, and I love the piping; but it’s been a bitch trying to pair with tights (in a way that doesn’t make me look like a 1950s chorus girl**.) (Not that I have a problem with that; I just rarely wear enough makeup to pull off the look.)

Once I threw on the headband, though, it all came together (for better or worse).

At the end of the day, the dress fits like a dream, I love the shape and the colors, and it’ll be back in (heavier) rotation come spring and summer . . .

Here’s a close-up of the headband (which you have seen before):

anthro headband; lilac nails.

*Which, at 24, I would have absolutely worn – but at 27, is feeling just a little too young on me?

**This is not helped by the fact that the dress did actually come with a jacket, which, solo, makes me look like a member of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonelyhearts Club Band, but paired with the dress? Sticks me squarely center stage on a Busby Berkeley (thanks Rob!) musical. Probably carrying an old school suitcase and being overwhelmed by the size of the josh-darn buildings.

    It’s actually Busby *Berkeley*.

Although I’d be interested to see what a Busby Berkeley/Bill Bixby hybrid creature would be like. It would give new meaning to a director telling his actors, “You wouldn’t like to see me when I’m angry.”

And – that makes why I found absolutely nothing on Google make sense. šŸ™‚

This is super cute. And at 30 I still wear the headbands, so no need to feel silly ‘cuz as you know, I’m very, very serious. šŸ˜‰

Yaaay! And it’s not so much the headband, I think, as the primary-color-ed-ness – well, and the bright pink tights – and hmm okay maybe the headband doesn’t, you know, SCREAM adulthood – but I am happy to follow in your footsteps, oh-so-serious-30. šŸ™‚
